Puppets on Parade: Bainbridge Island
Friday, June 24, 2005

Who Loves the Sun? We do! It has kindly come out of hiding for two glorious days in a row, which has significantly helped our paper mache dry faster. The field behind the store is abuzz with activity as puppet forms are coming off the molds and beginning to take shape. Look for the first finished frog mask making appearances in front of the store tomorrow. Tomorrow its off to the Rotary Auction for umbrellas, backpack frames and other useful items to use in the project.

A friendly reminder to workshop visitors -- WEAR "PAINTING" CLOTHES!

See you tomorrow!

Come one, come all to make puppets big and small. Puppets on Parade is a free community art project for people of all ages. Over the course of two weeks, we will create a cast of characters on the theme: "Taking Flight." The puppets will be made out of paper mache and simple materials, and there are jobs for people of every skill level (children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult). No experience is necessary. We'll have all the stuff you'll need to create, and local arists will be on hand for guidance.

The puppet workshop will run June 20 - July 1, 2006, every Tuesday-Saturday from 1-5 p.m. On July 4th, we will parade our puppets as an entry in the Bainbridge Island "Grand Old Fourth" parade.
