Puppets on Parade: Bainbridge Island
Sunday, July 03, 2005

Well we did it! After a fun and busy last day of the workshop, the mess is (almost) all cleaned-up, and all of the puppets are ready, and will be on display tonight at Oil & Water. There are still a few roles left so come on down, 5-7 p.m. tonight to reserve your costume. Or just show up at 11:30 Monday morning and join us in walking up to the parade start point.

Way to go everyone! We had double the participation this year, and we have many more puppets than we did last year. I expect that audiences will really enjoy our colorful creations.

Come one, come all to make puppets big and small. Puppets on Parade is a free community art project for people of all ages. Over the course of two weeks, we will create a cast of characters on the theme: "Taking Flight." The puppets will be made out of paper mache and simple materials, and there are jobs for people of every skill level (children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult). No experience is necessary. We'll have all the stuff you'll need to create, and local arists will be on hand for guidance.

The puppet workshop will run June 20 - July 1, 2006, every Tuesday-Saturday from 1-5 p.m. On July 4th, we will parade our puppets as an entry in the Bainbridge Island "Grand Old Fourth" parade.
