SATURDAY MORNING CARTOON CLUB (ages 9 & up)
Description: Why spend your Saturday mornings watching cartoons when you can create your own? The Animated Adventures Saturday Morning Cartoon Club is a guided independent studio where you can craft your own short movies using clay, cut-outs, drawings, or other animation techniques. We'll supply the equipment and materials; you bring the imagination. The Saturday Morning Cartoon Club meets for three hours a week over five consecutive weeks. All animators will receive a DVD of films created in the workshop.
CLAY ANIMATION (ages 8 to 16/grades 2-10)
Description: Bring your own characters and stories to life with the art of clay animation. Using plasticine clay and digital video animation technology, we will create original short animated films complete with sound effects and music.
ANIME & CARTOONS (ages 10 to 17/grades 4-12)
Description: Calling all Japanimation junkies! Make your own action-packed anime cartoons in this drawing-intensive workshop. Learn to animate like the pros do, with pegbar and lightbox animation, painted cels and special effects. If you dream of animating ninjas, fairies or other fantastic creatures, this is the class for you! Each student will receive a video of the animation created in class.
CARTOON CRAFTS: ART THAT MOVES (ages 6-11/grades 1-5)
Description: Whirligigs, zoetropes and flipbooks, oh my! In this hands-on workshop, we will create art that moves, from optical toys to acrobatic puppets. Students will keep all of their animated works of art.
COMPUTER ANIMATION (ages 10 - 16)
Description: Technology and art collide in this intensive five-day introduction to digital movie-making. Use laptop computers, Macromedia Flash MX and other cutting-edge software to create your own cartoons.
ANIMATION FOR EDUCATORS (adults)
Description: Teachers, librarians and other education professionals will not want to miss this unique professional development opportunity. In this intensive 3-day course designed just for educators, you will learn how to use animation production in the classroom to engage students in learning. We will cover technology and how to use it, media literacy and and how animation production can be used to reinforce learning in other content areas, such as math, science, social studies, language arts and more. Through hands-on activities, you will learn many projects you can use and adapt for your own classroom. At the end of the workshop you will take home our exclusive Animation for Educators packet, complete with lesson plans, handouts and reference material. You will also receive a DVD copy of the animation samples we create in class.
